Ruben C. Lopez Jr.

Ruben Claudio Lopez, Jr. passed away on August 23, 2023. Ruben was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on
April 12, 1969 and was a lifelong resident of Rio Grande City. He graduated from Rio Grande City High
School in 1987 where he played varsity football for the Rio Grande City Rattlers. Upon graduation, he
attended Texas A&I University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He later obtained
a Master Degree in Business Administration as well as other educational certifications. Ruben worked
for the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District and had previously worked for the
Texas A&M Agriculture Extension Service. He enjoyed all things involving nature and the outdoors
especially hunting and fishing. He loved to cook for his parents Ruben and Melba. He absolutely adored
his son affectionately known as “Baby Ruben” and he was a proud grandfather of Ruben IV, Roel,
Mariany and Roman.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his son Ruben C. Lopez, III (Marily), his beautiful grandchildren,
Ruben IV, Roel, Mariany and Roman, his parents Ruben and Melba Lopez, his brother Roderick “Rick”
Lopez (Becky), nephews Christopher (Allie) Lopez and Matthew Lopez and niece Kathryn Lopez.

RIO GRANDE CITY - RUBEN LOPEZ, 54 DIED ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2023 AT RIO GRANDE REGIONAL HOSPITAL IN MCALLEN TX.  SANCHEZ FUNERAL HOME OF RIO GRANDE CITY WILL BE TAKING CARE OF HIS FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS.
