Porfirio De La Garza

Porfirio "Dee" De La Garza, age 66, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 7, 2017 in Richmond, Texas, near Houston. He was born February 19, 1951 in Valadecees, Mexico.

He worked on B-52's, T-37's, T-38's, T-1's, and T-6 aircrafts at Laughlin AFB. During his career he was awarded many awards for his work on these aircraft. At his retirement ceremony he was awarded metals and certificates for his 40 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his son, Richard De La Garza of Del Rio; parents, Antonio & Santos De La Garza of Rio Grande City, Tx; sister, Gloria Zarate of Mission, Tx; father/mother-in-law, Marcelo and Obilia Chapa of Rio Grande City, Tx

Porfirio is survived by beloved wife of 44 years, Oralia C. De La Garza of Del Rio; son, Robert De La Garza and wife Marta of Houston, Tx; daughters, Priscilla Barnes and husband James of Richmond, Tx and Melissa Stephenson and husband Keith of Del Rio; grandchildren: Delberto De La Garza, Richard De La Garza, Robert De La Garza, Patricia De La Garza, Ashley De La Garza, Jonathan Barnes, Rayna Barnes, Gregory Leonard, Samuel Leonard, Liam Stephenson, and Ahmira Stephenson; brothers: Carlos De La Garza, Antonio De La Garza, and Benancio De La Garza; sisters: Sonia De La Garza, Sylvia Barcenas, Martina Garza, and Rita Lozano.
