RIO GRANDE CITY / ROMA - Nance Munoz, 76, died Wednesday, November 06, 2013 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas. Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home of Roma, Texas will be in charge of his funeral arrangements.

Nance Eliot Munoz Sr., 76, joined his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 06, 2013. Nance was a lifetime residence of Roma/Los Saenz, Texas and a member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Roma , Texas.

He served in the U.S. Military Service during the Korean Conflict. After his return from the Military Service, he pursued a college education at Pan American College in Edinburg, Texas obtaining Bachelor Degree in Biology and History. He later obtained a Master's Degree in School Administration. He worked for the Rio Grande City School District for 43 years as a High School classroom Biology Teacher and then held school administrative positions involving Curriculum Instruction and Student Services until his retirements in 2009.

Nance enjoyed and felt it was his duty to continue to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors in the Ranching Business. This was something he took great pride in and was dedicated to accomplish ranching success even during hardship times for ranchers.

His ultimate joy in life was spending time with family, friends, and especially with his beloved granddaughters: Meagan Elizabeth, Mia Enid, Miranda Eliana, Milena Ella, and Miriela Elise Munoz.

He is preceded in death by his parents Adulfo and Delfina G. Munoz, brothers Adulfo Munoz Jr. and A. Joel Munoz, sisters Aminta (+Jose), Macal and Hilda Munoz, his father and mother in law Miguel and Josefina R. Hinojosa.

Mr. Munoz is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Thalia H. Munoz and his children Roxanne Marie Munoz, Nance Eliot Munoz Jr. and Nelson (Marissa) Munoz, his siblings Olga M. Donally, Maria Hilda Munoz, and Edna Hernandez, his sisters in law Olga Hinojosa and Arabela Munoz, brothers in law Raul Hernandez and Judge Ricardo Hinojosa and his affectionate cousin Fernando (Estela) Garza. He is also survived by numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 07, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. and will continue today, Friday November 08, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. till 3:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be today at 4:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Roma, Texas . Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery Roma, Texas . Funeral Arrangements are the direction of Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home of Roma, Texas .
