MYRTHEA ALICIA GARZA-RIO GRANDE CITY – Myrthea A. Garza, a longtime resident of Rio Grande City entered eternal rest at the age of 96 on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Colonial Manor Advanced Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Pharr, Texas. She was born on July 4, 1928, in Camargo Tamaulipas, to Lazaro Elizondo and Francisca Tamez. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Isidoro (Yoyo) Garza; her son, Juan Thomas Roodman; her parents, Lazaro Elizondo and Francisca Tamez; sister Graciela Elizondo and her granddaughter Camelia Mares. She is survived by her daughters Margarita R. Ozuna, Fabiana (Ramiro) Cardenas, and a cherished grandmother to Cynthia (Mark) Steinke, Miriam Hinojosa, Manuel (Angelica) Ozuna, Noe Javier (Elizabeth) Ozuna, Ramiro Diego Cardenas and Daniel Cardenas. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Moises (Beatrice) Mares, Armando Mares, Alam Mares, Josphe Steinke, Brandon Hinojosa, John Hinojosa, Manuel Ozuna Jr, Alyssa Ozuna, Ashley Barrera, Ariana Ozuna, Alejandro Ozuna, Noelia Ozuna, Valeria Iturralde, Daniel Iturralde, Saydel Roodman and her great great-grandchildren Ximena Mares, Nicolas Mares, and Santiago Ozuna. Myrthea's life was a shining example of faith, hope, and love, exemplified by her devotion as a mother, grandmother, and business owner. She shared invaluable wisdom and compassion, inspiring countless friendships through loyalty and generosity. Her daily prayers and church service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church demonstrated her faith commitment. Lifelong dreams were fulfilled through travels to sacred sites, including the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Holy Land, and the Vatican. We remember and cherish her talents, drive, humor, and generosity, honoring her life and legacy. She will be greatly missed "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14: 27. The Garza Family Invites you to join them in a celebration of faith in remembrance of her life. The visitation service will be on Wednesday October 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. Viewing continues Thursday October 24, 2024, from 8:00 am to 9:45 am going to Immaculate Conception Church in Rio Grande City at 10:00 am. Followed by Burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Rio Grande City at 11:00 am. Funeral Services are entrusted at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City.
