MARIA ELVA SALINAS PEREZ

Maria Elva Salinas Perez, 83, from Rio Grande City, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and friend was called home on Saturday, June 13, 2015 to be with our Lord and Savior. Maria Elva was born September 12, 1931 and attended Catholic school throughout her life, earning a Masters Degree in Education. Maria Elva was an educator for over thirty years, teaching at the kindergarten level for the majority of those years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Marcelina Salinas; her husband, Miguel Perez; and her son-in-law Anthony Conway. Maria Elva is survived by her children: Adriana Garza (Juan); Aide Perez Pena (Rogelio); Araceli Conway (+Anthony Wayne); Eduardo Perez (Rosario); and Miguel Perez (Melinda); her grandchildren: Lisa Olgin (Alberto Olgin Jr.); Ricardo S. Solis; Cesario Perez; Edwina Perez; Iris Salinas (Eben Salinas Jr.); Michael Ray Perez; Caren Garza (Israel Garza); Christina Conway-Navarro (Noel Navarro); Marcelina Garza (Rene Garza); Ashley Perez; Deidra Perez; Alyssa Perez; and Jonathan Perez; her great-grandchildren: James Perez Jr.; Edel Garza; Sebastian Resendez; and Eduardo Olgin. Maria Elva enjoyed baking, watching her Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs, and reading. She was devoted to her family and lived her life as an example for all. Viewing will occur on Tuesday (June 16) from 10:00am -9:00pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on June 17 followed by burial services at Rio Grande City Cemetery. Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City is in charge of arrangements.
