We are here today not just to mourn the loss of Maria Magdalena "Maggie" Requenez, but to celebrate the strength and clarity she brought into our lives. Born in Rio Grande City on July 17, 1956, Maggie lived a life defined by her unwavering principles, her deep faith, and her commitment to her family. Maggie was a woman who believed in the value of hard work. She didn't believe in taking shortcuts and lived her life, accordingly, setting an example for all of us who knew her. Her dedication was evident in everything she did. Her faith was central to her life. She was a devout Christian, and her beliefs guided her every decision. Maggie’s discussions about her faith were straightforward and profound, impacting everyone who had the fortune to engage with her on matters of spirituality. As a mother, Maggie was both a teacher and a protector—firm yet generous. Her children, Priscilla, David, and Mary, are a testament to her dedication, embodying the values she instilled in them. Today, as we remember Maggie, let us acknowledge the tough love she showed us all. It wasn't always soft, but it was always meaningful. Maggie didn’t mince words; she showed her love through her actions—through the meals she shared, the advice she gave, and the standards she set. Maggie leaves behind a legacy of integrity and authenticity, cherished by her husband Antonio, her children, her brother Daniel, and everyone else fortunate enough to have known her. As we say goodbye, let’s honor her memory by living as she did—with honesty, strength, and a deep commitment to what we believe in. Maggie, thank you for the truths you shared and the life you led. You will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
