Maria Albina Gonzalez

Maria Albina Gonzalez entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the age of 83. She was born in Los Saenz, Texas on August 7, 1939 to Agapito Saenz and Andrea Escobar Trevino. She attended school in Roma where she graduated in 1958. After high school, she attended and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Pan American College. A lifelong educator, she spent the majority of her 33 year career teaching primarily seventh and eighth grade at Roma Junior High until her retirement. Maria Albina was a member of the Retired Teachers of Texas Association, former member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Xi Omega Mu of Beta Sigma Phi. Maria Albina was preceded in death by her husband, Lucio Eden Gonzalez Sr., her parents, her sister Martina Saenz, her brother Guillermo M. Trevino (Elva), and nephew, Luis A. Trevino (Maureen). Maria Albina is survived by her children, Cynthia L.., Lucio Eden Jr. (Marta), Melissa M., and Luis Eduardo ("Eddie"), her grandchildren, Lucio Eden Gonzalez III and Gabriela C. Gonzalez, her brother Jose Carlos Saenz (Lydia) and nephews Omar, Michael, and Juan Carlos Saenz and niece, Maricela Trevino Pena and numerous beloved relatives and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers Maria E. Zuniga and Maria de Los Angeles Martinez Ruiz.

 Visitation will begin Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home of Roma from 1-8pm with a rosary at 6:30pm and on Thursday, from 8-9:30am. Mass will be at 10am on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Roma. Burial will follow at the Roma Cemetery.
