Laurencia "Wencha" Muniz

Laurencia Garcia Muñiz, 96, of Los Barreras, Texas, entered eternal rest with our Lord, as she passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 10, 2017, at Retama Manor Nursing Center in Rio Grande City, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 5, 1921, in Los Garza's, Texas, she is preceded in death by her parents, Benito and Virginia Garcia of Rio Grande City, Texas, her late husband of 50 years, Marcos Muñiz Sr., an infant child, and her 7 siblings. On October 12, 1942, she married Marcos Muniz Sr. , they had a family of 3 boys, Marcos Jr., Roberto(deceased infant 2 months), and Roberto. She worked for many years at the Roma Historical Museum as an attendee. She was an Avon Representative for many years and enjoyed attending the conferences. Wencha's favorite hobby was crocheting. She leaves many memories of baby blankets, bedspreads, and tablecloths especially handmade by her for her grandchildren and nieces. She is survived by her sons Marcos Muniz Jr.(Maria) and Roberto Sr.(Lilia) ,7 grandchildren, Leticia M. Guerra(Heriberto), Irene M. Flores (Jose Guadalupe), Mary Yvette M. Trevino (Israel), Jessica M. Muñiz, Roberto Muñiz Jr. (Judy ) Juan Gilberto Muñiz (Victoria) and Lilia C. Escobar (Juan Gilberto ). She had 15 great-grandchildren Jose G. Flores Jr., Idani I. Flores, Roberto Muñiz III, Zelda V. Guerra, Ricardo Muñiz, Israel Treviño Jr., Jayden A. Garza, Yanelly A. Treviño, Yanet A. Treviño, Regina M. Muñiz, Sofia A. Muñiz, Rebecca B. Muñiz, Gabriela A. Muñiz, Daniel G. Escobar, Eliana A. Muñiz. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother as well as her devotion to God. Her memory lives on in many people's lives forever. Funeral services will be held at Sanchez Funeral Home, Rio Grande City, Texas. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 12th at 11 am to 9 pm with a rosary at 7 pm. Friday's visitation will begin at 10 am. Burial services will proceed with a Holy Mass at Santa Rosa de Lima Church in La Rosita, TX. , at 4 pm then she will be laid to rest at Los Barrera's Cemetery.
