Laurencia A Lopez, 91, of Rio Grande City, went to be with her Lord after a short illness on Sunday, May 18, 2014. As it was in life and through her passing she had her family by her side. Laurencia was a dedicated wife of forty-nine years, a loving mother and grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Born on November 22, 19 22 in Rio Grande City to Salvador and Eva Acevedo, Laurencia was one of seven children. Sisters: Hortencia Magana+, Celia Medrano, Sylvia Tijerina+ , Brothers Ambrocio+, Salvador+, Agustin +, and Ricardo Acevedo . In 1943 Laurencia married the love of her life Miguel G. Lopez. Together they made their home in Rio Grande City and raised five children. Left to continue Laurencia's legacy are her children, Gloria G. Cavazos(Miguel) of Harlingen, Miguel G. (Mary) from Edinburg, Leonel J.(Adriana) from Mission, Joel J. (Thelma) from McAllen and Daniel D.( Minerva) from Rio Grande City, her 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings Ricardo Acevedo(Reyes) and Celia Medrano, sisters in law Elia and Ninfa Acevedo as well as many nephews and nieces. Laurencia now joins her wonderful husband Miguel; her parents Salvador and Eva Acevedo, siblings Hortencia Magana(Victor+), Sylvia Tijerina (Jose+), Ambrocio Acevedo, Salvador Acevedo, and Augustin Acevedo in Heaven with our Lord. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" Mark 12:30.
Visitation started on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 2:00pm till 9:00pm with the Holy Rosary Recited at 7:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be today, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10:00am Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rio Grande City, Texas. Burial will follow at the Rio Grande City Cemetery. Sanchez Funeral Home of Rio Grande City will be in charge of her funeral services.
