Juanita G. Gonzalez

 Rio Grande City - On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, with her daughter at her side, Juanita “Janie” Gonzalez was called home to heaven by the Lord. At 85 years old, Juanita lived a life full of love and laughs. Born on March 11, 1939, Juanita is proceeded in death by her husband, Oswaldo R. Gonzalez; her parents, Policarpio Gamez and Petra Vera Gamez; her sisters, Francisca Gamez and Irma Bazan; and her brother, Erasmo Gamez.

 Juanita was well known around the community for her renowned hair salon that she owned and operated named The Hair Palace. Her love of glam helping her make her clients feel confident and remain up to date with newest styles. Juanita never let anyone who sat in her chair leave unhappy and always made sure they felt their best. Juanita will be remembered as a woman who gave her all for her family and friends. A woman of laughs, love, and caring words for all those around her. A woman who stood as a rock for those who needed her and an inspiration for those who looked up to her.

 She is survived by her sisters, Lupita Rosa and Gloria (Arturo) Gonzalez; her daughter, Veronica L. Peña; her grandchildren, Kristina M. (Abram) Lopez, and Victoria L. (Isaac) Rios; and her great-grandchildren Aiden D., Dylan R., and Aria J. Lopez.

 Juanita will be dearly missed by her loved ones, and by the people that her heart touched. Her viewing will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, TX, from 1 p.m. through 8 p.m., proceeded by her burial the following day on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Rio Grande City Cemetery at 10 a.m. "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
