Juan Lino Perez

Juan Lino Perez, of Rio Grande City, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas. Juan Lino was a lifetime resident of Rio Grande City, and a member of a pioneer family in Texas. He was the son of Toraldo C. Perez, Sr., and Josefa Hinojosa Perez, and the grandson of Don Casimiro Perez Alvarez, a well known figure and respected citizen in Starr Co. Juan Lino's great-great-great-great grandfather, Pedro Jose Perez, was the purchaser of Porcion 74, originally granted to Pedro Lugo in 1767. Pedro Jose Perez, purchased Porcion 74 on Dec. 26, 1787, and named the ranch "Rancho San Jose de la Mulada". His ranch consisted of 6,740 acres.




Juan Lino retired from the Rio Grande City CISD after 15 years as a warehouse foreman. Juan Lino was a hard working man who enjoyed working the ranch and barbequing with friends and relatives.




He is survived by his son, Juan Lino, Jr., daughter-in-law, Tanya Lisa, and granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Perez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Toraldo Casimiro and Josefa Hinojosa Perez, a sister; Lydia Griselda Perez, brother; Jose Javier Perez. Surviving siblings are; brothers, Toraldo C. Perez, Jr., Silvestre Angel Perez, and sister, Idolina Araceli P. Davis. He leaves behind numerous nephews, a niece, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. He will be greatly missed.




Funeral services will be conducted by Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. Viewing will be on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 2:00 to 9:00p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:00p.m. A mass will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:00p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Rio Grande City, and interment will follow at the Rio Grande City Cemetery.
