RIO GRANDE CITY - Josefa R. Gonzalez, 79, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Solara Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Sanchez Funeral Home of Rio Grande City will be in charge of her funeral arrangements.

La Grulla - Josefa "Pepa" R. Gonzalez, 79, entered into rest on Friday, August 15, 2014, at Solara Hospital in McAllen, Texas. She was born on September 28, 1934 to Vicente Rivera and Ana Maria Villarreal Rivera. She was a lifelong resident of La Grulla, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Epigmenio S. Gonzalez and her parents, Vicente Rivera and Ana Maria Villarreal Rivera.
She is survived by her children, Jose (Luisa) Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez, Oscar (Maritza) Gonzalez of La Grulla, Juan(Janie) Gonzalez of Aransas Pass, Javier (Gloria) Gonzalez of Edinburg, Epigmenio (Nelda) Gonzalez Jr. of La Victoria, Nora (Arturo) Palacios of McAllen and Rosa Lozano of Helotes; also surviving are 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and the loving support from the Villarreal and Rivera family.
Special thanks to the staff at the Rio Grande Regional Hospital and Solara Hospital in McAllen, for their warm hospitality and loving support during this tender moment. Also, thank you to Dr. Edurado Guzman, Dr. Keith A. Ramos and Dr. Guillermo Salinas for their continued care throughout the years.
Visitation will start today, Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 11:00am - 9:00pm with a Holy Rosary Recited at 7:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 1:30pm Holy Family Catholic Church, La Grulla, Texas. Burial will follow at Solis Cemetery in La Grulla. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Sanchez Funeral Home of Rio Grande City, Texas.
