Jose Luis Martinez

Jose Luis Martinez, born on July 9, 1942, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, at the age of 82. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jose Luis shared a beautiful 46- year marriage with his beloved wife, Maria Elisa (Licha) who together nurtured a loving family, raising three children: Jose Luis Martinez Jr. (Julie Martinez), Demetrio Martinez (Lizby Martinez), and Erika Martinez. He was also a proud grandfather to Mark, Robert, Chris, DJ, Joe III, Vicky, and Lorenzo, and great grandfather to 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his love of his life, Maria E. Martinez, who now embraces him in eternal peace. Jose Luis worked for many years in Houston for Brown & Root at Dupont as an Iron Worker later being a supervisor before he retired and moved back to Roma. While in Roma, he worked as a jailer and later as a security at the Starr County Memorial Hospital. His work ethic was impeccable, and he came to earn the respect of his co-workers throughout. Outside of work, Jose Luis loved spending time with his wife, visiting family, fishing, riding his motorcycle, hunting, cleaning his yard, and helping others. Most recently, he loved to exercise and to dine out with family. His love for family was unwavering. Jose Luis will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
