Jose Guadalupe Longoria

On April 4, 2014, Jose Guadalupe Longoria, loving husband, father, grandfather and

great-grandfather went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 92. Jose

"Pepe" Longoria leaves behind a great legacy to his family and friends who will be

forever impacted by his lifetime example of service, friendship, and faith.

He was born December 12, 1921 in El Perdido Ranch, Santa Elena, TX. He was the

son of Melecio and Teresa Longoria. Jose was a member of the "Greatest

Generation" and served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War

II, earning 2 bronze stars and a purple heart in his term with the military. Upon

returning from his service to his country, he married the love of his life, Ninfa Garcia

Longoria. They were happily married for 65 years.




He worked for 26 years at the International Water and Boundary Commission in

Falcon Heights, TX. While in retirement he returned to his favorite place on earth, El

Perdido Ranch. There he worked and tended the land with great joy all the way to the

end. His treasure was sharing this blessing with his family.




Jose G. Longoria is preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. He is survived by:

his loving wife, Ninfa Longoria; his sister Maria L. Benavides; his children, Edna L.

Guerra, Jose G. Longoria, Jr. (Myrna), Hermelinda "Millie" LaGrega, and Elda L.

Gonzalez (Roland); his grandchildren, Francisco Guerra IV (Paige), Luis C. Guerra

(Norma), Jose Isaac Longoria, Lisa G. Perez, Roland Gonzalez, Jr. (Megan), Desiree

Ann Longoria, and Mike Gonzalez; and his 10 great grandchildren.




Visitation started on Sat., April 05, 2014 from 1:00 - 9:00pm. and will continue today, Sun. April 06, from 1:00 till 9:00pm. Rosary at 7:00pm. His Funeral Mass will be on Monday, April 07, at 10:00am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rio Grande City, Texas. Interment will follow at Rio Grande City Cemetery. Sanchez Funeral Home of Rio Grande City will be in charge of his funeral services.
