George "Coque" Garcia Jr.

Rio Grande City- George “Coque “Garcia Jr. passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, TX.  George was born and raised in Rio Grande City, TX.  He was born November 11, 1938 to George and Maria Garcia. 

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Maria Garcia; his son Benjamin Garcia; his brothers Enrique Garcia and Eloy Garcia. He is survived by his wife Maria Guadalupe Garcia and daughter Sylvia (Kino) Vela; grandchildren Alex (Micaela) Garcia, Eric (Patty) Valdez,  Savannah (Noel III) Garcia, Violet Aileen Vela; great-grandchildren Leon Alexander Garcia, Aleela Garcia; brothers Efrain Garcia, Roel Garcia; sisters Rosalinda Ramirez Garcia, Elizabeth Rios. 

He served in the United States Army from 1956-1963.  He married the love of his life Maria at the age of 24.  They had two beautiful kids which gave them four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He started his own construction company age the age of 30.  He worked his company for thirty years.  He stopped working to enjoy his early retirement.  He lived at his ranch enjoying his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He loved raising goats and chickens, hunting, fishing, barbecuing, and gardening.
