Jesus "Chuy" Montalvo

Jesus “Chuy” Montalvo, born on April 6, 1959, in Roma, Texas, passed away on February 1, 2025, after a brave three-month battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.

Chuy was a lifelong resident of Roma, Texas, where he touched the hearts of all who knew him. He dedicated 37 years to serving the students and families of Roma ISD, working as a school aide in the special education department and as an office clerk during his last few years prior to retiring. After his retirement, he worked with Dulce Esperanza Home Health Care. His patience, kindness, and hard work made a lasting impact on the lives of those he served.

Though Chuy was divorced, he remained deeply devoted to the care of his mother and family and loved all nieces and nephews as his own. He was known for his humor, goofiness, and boundless loyalty. Always ready to help, Chuy had a strong sense of responsibility and was the go-to person whenever a family member, friend, or neighbor needed assistance. Whether it was taking care of family, pets, homes, ranches, or cattle, Chuy was there with a thoughtful heart and a helping hand.

Chuy’s love for his family, friends, and community was evident in everything he did. He loved cooking, especially experimenting with new recipes, and he was known for his grilling skills, often hosting gatherings where laughter and good food filled the air. He found peace and joy spending time at the ranch, and he was a familiar sight driving his green pickup truck around Roma, often stopping to check in on those who mattered most to him.

Chuy is survived by his loving mother, Zulema Montalvo, and his siblings: Rene (Guillermina) Montalvo, Jacinto (Gracie) Montalvo Jr., Daniel Montalvo, Adan (Maria) Montalvo, Carmen (Luis) Delgado, Susie (Chris) Wenzel, Sara (Larry) Perez, and Imelda (Eddie) Acosta. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Chuy is preceded in death by his father, Jacinto Montalvo, and sibling, baby Jacinto.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Chuy will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Sanchez Funeral Home in Escobares, Texas. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM, followed by a liturgical service at 6:00 PM. 

Chuy’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the memories of those who were lucky enough to know him. We will miss seeing him pass by in his green pickup truck, a reminder of the warmth and love he brought to our lives. Rest in peace, Uncle Chuy - you will forever be in our hearts.
