Irma Imelda Garcia, 72, of Garciasville, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023,surrounded by her children and family.
Irma was born to Rodolfo and Maria D. Chavez on May 25, 1951, in McAllen, Texas. The oldestof nine children, she helped look after her younger siblings and served as a role model to them. Upon graduating from McAllen High School in 1969, Irma attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton,Texas. She married the love of her life, Victoriano Garcia, Jr., a Vietnam Veteran, on June 29, 1970. Together, they had a beautiful family of five children, thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. After raising her children to adulthood, Irma dedicated the last 33 years of her professional life to fulfilling paralegal services in Rio Grande City, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victoriano Garcia, Jr., her son, Victoriano Garcia, III; parents Rodolfo and Maria D. Chavez, and brother Rodolfo Chavez, Jr. Irma leaves behind a legacy of love and family.
She is survived by her children Cynthia Garcia (Martin), Jeremiah Garcia (Roxy), Dante Garcia(Mayra), and Iris Garcia (Juan); grandchildren Martin Chapa, Jr., Mark Chapa (Génesis), Marla Jane Chapa (Leoner), Victoriano Chapa, Anthony J. Chapa, Cassidy Devine (Richard), Kaylee Barrera, Jeremiah Garcia, Jr., Josiah Garcia, Juan J. Lopez III, Jacob I. Lopez, Jadelyn I.
Lopez, and Jayden I. Lopez; great-grandchildren Mark I. Chapa, Samantha L. Chapa, and Lilah J. Caraballo; siblings Irene Castaneda (Martin), Ida Fierro (Albert), Hilda Bonner (Craig), Norma Chavez, Mary Marez (Mario), Glenda Chavez, Edward Chavez (Sandra); and several nieces and nephews.
Irma was a devoted mother, sister, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and faithful servant of the Lord. Her greatest joys in life included spending quality time with family, cooking, shopping for shoes and handbags, and serving the Lord with all her heart. Irma will forever be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her children and grandchildren, her faith in God, and her fearlessness for the future. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all
who were fortunate to know her. Although we will miss her presence here on Earth, we do take comfort in knowing that we will one day be reunited with her in the Kingdom of God.
A viewing will be held at Sanchez Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 2:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Mission Church on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Burial is to follow at 11:15 a.m. at I & V Family Cemetery, located at 155 Elenora Ln, Garciasville, TX, 78582.
