Idolina G. Garcia

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Idolina G. Garcia, a caring and loving family woman who will be deeply missed by her family.

Idolina G. Garcia of Rio Grande City, Texas passed away on July 8, 2024 at the age of 80. Idolina was born on August 5, 1943 to Rodolfo and Virginia Garcia, in Rio Grande City, Texas where she resided most of her life. In her immediate family, she is survived by her devoted sons, Gilberto Garcia (Maricela O.), Jaime Garcia (Marisela), and Lee Roy Garcia (Marina). She is also survived by her sisters, Irma Barrera, Irene Silva, Idelia (Abel) Laurel, and Ma. Iselda Tijerina-Garcia. She will join her loving parents, her beloved husband of 53 years, Patricio Garcia, and her sister Imelda Salazar in peaceful rest.

Idolina was blessed with six wonderful grandchildren who brought spark and joy to her life, Daniella D. Garcia and Jaime Garcia, Jr. of McAllen, Texas; Patricio Garcia, Lizette N. Garcia, and Luis Carlos Garcia of Rio Grande City, Texas; and Dr. Gilberto Garcia, Jr. (Dr. Ana Laura Zepeda-Garcia) of Galveston, Texas. Idolina looked forward to her grandchildren’s visits and often rejoiced in listening to their personal stories and looking at pictures of their everyday personal and professional milestone activities.

Idolina had a true passion for life, loved to play bingo, and believed in the importance of education. She was often heard advising her grandchildren and other young people to continue their education in order to improve their lives.

It was a blessing to be part of Idolina’s life. She was very much loved, and her presence will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and family will stay with her loved ones forever.
