ROMA - Hector Fernando Guerra, 80, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home will be in charge of his funeral arrangements.
Hector F. Guerra passed away on February 17, 2015. Hector was born on June 9, 1934 to H. P.
Guerra Jr. and Rebeca H. Guerra. He is preceded in death by his sister Margarita G. Salinas (Cesar) and
his brother H.P. Guerra III (Josefa G). He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Graciela M.Guerra; his
sons Christopher L. Guerra, John A. Guerra, and Andrew L. Guerra; Daughters-in-Law Claudia
A. Guerra and Karen H. Guerra; grandchildren Kevin M. Guerra, Katherine G. Guerra, Matthew
J. Guerra, and Michael A. Guerra; his brother Richard L. Guerra,(Becky P Guerra), and his sister Rose Marie G.
Rodriguez.
He received his elementary education at Immaculate Conception School in Rio Grande City and
graduated from Rio Grande City High School. As a young teenager, he worked the family
ranches with his grandfather, H.P.Guerra, Sr., developing a true passion for ranching and the
cattle business. While still a teenager, he managed the Guerra Cotton Gin Company for his
grandfather, ultimately becoming a successful self-made business man.
He married Graciela Margo in 1955. Soon thereafter he was drafted into the army, being
honorably discharged in 1959. He then went back to Rio Grande City to manage a farming
business for a few years. For the next 25 years, he was an independent insurance agent, while
simultaneously building and managing La Anacua Ranch Inc., serving as its President. After
retiring from the insurance business he became a full time rancher. One of his dreams was to
run steer cattle outside of Texas, and over the last 15 years, he did this in various states
including Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas.
Together with his wife of almost 60 years, they traveled the world and took many cruises, visiting
destinations in the Orient, Australia, the Holy Land, Europe and Russia, to mention a few. His
favorite destination hands down was Las Vegas, Nevada, never letting a few months go by
without going west to make his "donation" on the Vegas strip.
