Ernesto A. Ramirez passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veteran's Nursing Home where he was currently a resident. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernesto and Salome C. Ramirez, wife Maria Adela G. Ramirez, brother Victor Ramirez, sister Fabiola Ramirez, and nephew Hector Ramirez, and brother-in-law Charles Zurkleback. He is survived by his son Ricardo Omar (Sylvia) Ramirez, daughter Mirella (Jose) Martinez, three grandchildren Krystania (Daniel) Sanchez, Alesia Marie Martinez, and Rebecca Olivia Ramirez and one great-granddaughter Desiree Sanchez, brothers Luis (Esperanza) Ramirez, Maria Elodia Zurkleback, Jorge (Yolanda) Ramirez, and brother-in-law Baldemar Ramirez. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Ernesto was born on February 27, 1932 and was a life-long resident of Roma Texas. He graduated from Roma High School In 1951. He enlisted and served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged from his service due to family obligations. He worked for the United States Post Office for over 30 years until he retirement in 1988.
Ernesto was well respected and best known for his years of service in the post office, owner and proprietor of the former Roma Theater, and as a videographer filming and videotaping many special events such as weddings and quinceaneras. He loved filming couples in romantic scenes with special video effects and music. He managed and ran the movie theater with the family for over 50 years starting with the silent movies, then black and white, color, and special effects. People who knew him will always remember him as a hard worker, he also managed and played amateur baseball and the Yankees were his favorite team, he enjoyed keeping his vehicles clean, waxed, and polished, a reflection of his extreme fascination for new cars and trucks. Among other interests, was his knowledge of WWII airplanes and battleships. Also, he loved drawing cartoon sketches of people's faces which was a trait of his people pleasing personality.
His family and close friends will remember him as a tough, no-nonsense person with a strict demeanor and personality. He served his family as a good provider always dedicated to doing the best that he could to please everyone he knew. He always wanted to live a private and quiet life.
Funeral services will be under the direction of Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home in Roma, Texas. He will be buried in the Roma Cemetery next to his wife Maria Adela (Adelita) Ramirez. A much special Thanks for all the prayers and for the Staff at Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veteran's Nursing Home who diligently worked to provide comfort during his last days.
