Elma G. Perez Doyno
McAllen--Elma G Perez Doyno began her life in Edinburg, Texas on August 23, 1930. She was active in her church at a very young age, and attended the Sacred Heart Parochial School. She was a graduate of Edinburg High School where she was a member of the Sergeanettes. Elma attended and graduated Pan American College with a Bachelors degree in Education, and began a teaching career at Lamar Elementary in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. On June 27, 1958, she wed Paul Michael Doyno and subsequently resided in Rio Grande City, where she tenured a 36 year career in elementary education in the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District. After retiring in 1992, Elma returned to teaching in 1994 for an additional seven years as an Accelerated Reading teacher for the District. Throughout her life, she was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Our Lady of Mercy Court #1968.
On June 23, 2013, Elma took her last breath and transitioned into spiritual and everlasting life. She is survived by her only child, Dr. Paul Michael Doyno, Jr.; sisters-in-law Pauline S. Doyno, Mary Elizabeth Doyno and Lydia C. Doyno; Nieces Imelda H. Pompa, Irma H. Trevino, Gloria H. (David) Sandoval, and Gladys Marie Doyno; Nephews Enrique A.(Kathleen) Hinojosa and Frank G. (Cary) Doyno, Jr. She is also survived by numerous grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Michael Doyno.
Visitation was held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 2pm to 9pm, with rosary service at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be today, Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 4pm at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Rio Grande City Cemetery. Sanchez Funeral Home of Rio Grande City is in charge of arrangements.
