Eleazar Olivares

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Eleazar Olivares Salazar. He was a loving and committed family man and he will be deeply missed by many.

Eleazar Olivares of Rio Grande City, Texas passed away on February 13, 2022. Eleazar was born on November 24, 1938 to Aniceto and Aurora Olivares in La Laja, Tamaulipas. In his immediate family, he is survived by his wife Adelaida Olivares, sons Rafael Olivares (María De La Paz) and Eleazar Olivarez (Sandra), and daughters Maricela O. Garcia (Gilberto),  Patricia O. Soto (Marco), Alicia Chavez (Juan), and Laila Olivarez.  He is also survived by ten loving siblings that live throughout the United States and Mexico. He will join his loving parents and two siblings in peaceful rest. 

Eleazar was blessed with eleven grandchildren who brought spark and joy to his life. He could often be found taking them on rides in his pickup truck to run errands around town or working with them in his backyard crushing cans. He was known for treating them to chocolates, sodas, and ice cream which he kept fully stocked in his fridge…some even inherited his love for whistling as he worked! 

Nothing brought more joy to him than a visit from a sibling and he was always ready to lend a helping hand or make that weekly phone call to check in on siblings and his children. 

Eleazar instilled many lessons in life; central among these were to work hard, that education was paramount, and that truth and your word matter.

It was a blessing to be a part of his life, his legacy is deep, he was very much loved and he will be missed.
