Delia was a beautiful, intelligent, and strong woman who was dedicated and devoted to her family. She enjoyed using her creative and artistic abilities and was happiest when her children and grandchildren were happy.
Delia attended Immaculate Conception School & Rio Grande City High. She received her Associates of Arts Degree in Interior Design at Bauder Fashion College in Arlington, Texas. She was employed by Richard Spivey Furniture Shon Room at the Dallas World Trade Center. Delia also worked at her father's store-Triple L Furniture & Appliance. She later worked for her brother at David L Lopez Design in McAllen. While living in Rio Grande City, she also became a licensed cosmetologist, like her mother. Delia was an avid supporter of her community and church. She volunteered countless hours to the youth and projects. Delia's artistry & creativity was endless when she moved to McAllen, she worked with her brother, David Lauro in his New York Deli & Catering Co. With her help & exceptional culinary skills she & David established a successful & thriving business. She worked for the Department of Human Services for 23 years as a social worker. Delia continued to further her education, she received an LVN certification. She also managed an adult day care center for a number of years.
Her last job was for Superior-Medicaid-Medicare.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lauro L. Lopez, mother, Maria Celia Saenz Lopez, her brother, David Lauro Lopez, her nephew, Daniel Roy Lopez Jr. She is survived by her husband Luis Manuel Cruz, her sons Mateo, Caleb & Lucas Cruz and her grandsons MJ & Owen. She is also survived by her brother Daniel Roy Lopez (Toni), Diana L Saldana (DD) and Dalinda Canales (Hugo).
Funeral arrangements are still pending. Sanchez Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Delia Lopez Cruz, 63 of Rio Grande City passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023 at the PAM Specialty Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
