Roma. TX - Crisanto Salinas, a dedicated public servant and former city manager of Roma, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2025, at the age of 65. His legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to his community will forever be remembered.
Crisanto devoted nearly 25 years of his life to the City of Roma, beginning his public service as a city commissioner in 1989. In 1997, he became Roma’s first planning director, where he implemented the city’s first subdivision ordinance. His leadership continued as he was promoted to director of operations in 2002, where he played a crucial role in a $70-million water and wastewater system improvement project, bringing essential services to colonias in Roma and throughout Starr County.
In 2007, he was named Roma’s first city manager under its home rule charter. Over his 14-year tenure, he worked tirelessly to secure tens of millions of dollars in state and federal funding for street paving projects, storm drainage improvements, and public safety infrastructure. His efforts significantly expanded the operations of Roma’s police and fire departments, leaving a lasting impact on the safety and well-being of the community.
Crisanto Salinas was a man of great vision, professionalism, and dedication. His leadership set Roma on a path toward a brighter future, and his contributions will continue to benefit the community for generations to come.
He is survived by his wife Josie Hinojosa-Salinas his two sons Chris Salinas and Andrew Salinas (Karen Salinas). Granddaughters Anaylie Salinas and Adalette Salinas. His Siblings Jose Roel Salinas, Nora Vela, Zulema Salinas, Theodora Salinas, Rolando Salinas, Roxanna Garza, and Annabelle Alaniz. Proceeded in death Father Enrique Salinas and Mother Dominga Angelica Salinas. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the city, he worked so hard to improve.
A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Sanchez Funeral Home in Roma, Texas. The family welcomes all who wish to pay their respects and share in remembering a man who gave so much to his community.
