Alvaro Antonio (Tony) Garcia, 51, of Rio Grande City passed away on December 28, 2022, at El Rucio Ranch. Tony was born on February 20, 1971, to Narciso Garcia and Maria Del Socorro Garcia in Roma, Texas. After graduating from Rio Grande City High School in 1989, he went to study at Texas A&I University- Kingsville graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree. In August of that year, he began his career as an educator with Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District at Ringgold Middle School serving as a Math and Art teacher. Later he transferred to Veterans Middle School as an Athletic Coordinator and P.E. Coach. Having served 27 years in the district, he leaves a positive impact on many students and colleagues . Alvaro enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends. Besides being an avid hunter, he was also a member of the Starr Bass Club receiving numerous fishing awards. He also enjoyed woodworking and BBQing. Alvaro is preceded in death by his father, Narciso Garcia. He is survived by his mother, Maria Del Socorro Garcia, wife, Claribel J. Solis, his children Danaih Denise, Alvaro Antonio II, Aylin Itzel,and Trey Trillayes. His siblings, Servando Javier (Lorrie) Garcia, Sylvia Julieta (+Encarnacion) Garcia, Saul Jaime Garcia, Samuel Jorge Garcia, Narciso (Irma) Garcia Jr., and Hector Raul (Mary Lou) Garcia. His nieces and nephews Jesus Alberto, Victoria Nicole, Samantha Jo, Hilda Rebecca, Hilary Renee, Haulen Raeleen, Angelina Isabel, and Miranda. Visitations will be held Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. with a holy rosary at 6 p.m.. Funeral Mass will take place Monday, January 2 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Rio Grande City, Texas. Followed by the burial at Rio Grande City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sanchez Funeral Home of Rio Grande City. The Garcia/Solis Family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, food, flowers and visits. We are grateful for the love and support that has been expressed during this difficult times.
